Motorola launched Moto G5 Plus after it’s suucessor G4 & G4 Plus. But, at this time Motorola released only the plus variant and skipped the G5. Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus, the latest models in the Moto G series, were unveiled at the recently concluded MWC 2017 trade show. Just like the moto fourth generation phones Moto G4 and the G4 Plus, the latest Moto G series consists of two models with different screen sizes but almost identical specifications otherwise.
At the global launch Motorola, now a lenovo owned company has not disappointed it’s customers by providing some good specs for reasonable prices. At the launch the company made it clear that launching these phones in india is a hight prority.
Moto G5 Plus Specifications
At first glance, the new Moto G5 phone looks a lot like Moto’s mid range smartphone Moto Z with similar Moto branding between the earpiece and display. With this fifth generation phones, Motorola has given Metal Body for it’s new fifith series phones Moto G5 & G5 plus. The Moto G5 Plus and Moto G5 now sport an aluminium finish, and the big-screen Moto G5 model definitely feels sturdy. However, the biggest difference we can in the moto g5 is it’s oval shaped fingerprint scanner like oppo used in their phones. The phone’s rounded edges and corners make it comfortable to hold and use.
The power and volume buttons are placed on the right, located comfortably for single hand operations. Another big change we can see at the bottom side, the 3.5mm audio jack and Micro-USB port for charging are at the bottom.
Screen & Display
The Moto G5 Plus features a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with a full-HD resolution for an impressive 424ppi pixel density. The new Moto G5 Plus also uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. Moto G5 screen was good enough for videos, movies, and games. There’s a Colour mode feature in the display settings that lets users select between standard and vibrant colour reproduction. It measures 150.2x74x7.7mm.
Memory & Storage
There are three variants released for the new smartphone launched by Motorola at MWC 2017, with 2GB, 3GB and 4GB RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of inbuilt storage. But, In India, only two Moto G5 Plus variants are being introduced: one with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, and the other with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage while, both variants will support microSD cards of up to 128GB.
Processor & Graphics
Moto G5 Plus packs a Octa Core Processor with Snapdragon 625 Chipset and Adreno 506 Graphics. This is a popular SoC and has been used in the latest phone by Xiaomi in their Redmi Note 4 and in Lenovo P2 as well as Lenovo’s mid-range Moto Z Play (priced at 24,999).
The new Moto smartphone sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with a feature called Dual Autofocus Pixels which lets you lock focus in a blink. The Moto G5 Plus camera has an f/1.7 aperture and dual LED flash. There is also a 5-megapixel front camera with an f/2.2 aperture and display flash that could come in handy in dim areas.

The camera on the Moto G5 Plus is capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps, which is a big advantage at this price point. You also get full-HD video recording at 30 and 60fps.
The Moto G5 Plus supports two Nano-SIMs, both of which can connect to 4G networks, though only one at a time. NFC, VoLTE, and GLONASS are also supported.
The Moto G5 phone is powered by a standard 3000mAh battery, and according to the company it can deliver up to 24 hours of mixed usage also supports TurboPower fast charging.
The Moto G5 Plus has been launched at a price of Rs 14,999 for the variant with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, while the variant with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage is priced at Rs. 16,999.
Also note that Redmi Note 4 offered 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage for 11,999, while 64 GB variant with 4 GB RAM for Rs 12,999 rest with same specs except the camera.
Moto G5 Plus scores in case of look and camera. If you are looking for a better look phone with good camera Moto G5 will be a good option. But other than that Redmi Note 4 is good option.
